Here's where to get H1N1 shots

CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Health officials say the first place to get a flu shot should be a person's own family doctor or medical provider. Another option is your local pharmacy.

The City Of Chicago will offer free H1N1 swine flu shots to residents at six city college locations.
- Kennedy King College, 6301 S. Halsted St.
- Olive Harvey College, 10001 S. Woodlawn Ave.
- Richard J. Daley College, 7500 S. Pulaski Rd.
- Truman College, 1145 W. Wilson Ave.
- Arturo Velasquez Institute, 2800 S. Western Ave.
- Wright College, 4300 N. Narragansett Ave.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays; and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Student vaccinations for Palatine Elementary School District 15 Tentatively scheduled for Oct. 29-30.
Evanston Township High School will offer clinics for students and staff Nov. 12-13.

DuPage County residents who meet priority group criteria now may call to schedule appointments to get flu shots to protect against the novel H1N1 influenza virus.
The initial clinic schedule will cover Oct. 22 to Nov. 8, including weekends. Additional dates will be announced as vaccine becomes available. Enough vaccine is being manufactured for everyone in the United States.
All flu shots will be given by appointment only at this time. County residents may call 1 (866) 311-1123 to make appointments. Calls will be taken on a 24/7 basis.
Times, dates and locations of the daily clinics will be posted on www.protectdupage.org, the DuPage County emergency information web site.

The Health Department is preparing to open H1N1 flu vaccination clinics at five sites. These walk-in clinics are initially for people in specific high priority target groups. Once the high priority populations have received the vaccine, the Health
Department will provide the vaccine to the general public. In addition to the Health Department clinics, vaccinations will be available from a large number of community healthcare providers, pharmacies and clinics in November and December. More than 430 local providers and facilities registered to receive vaccine in the county.
