(WBBM) - There have been a couple of recent reported cougar sightings in the suburbs, including one in which a suspected big cat moved surprisingly close to a west suburban woman.
Describing what she saw as something that belonged in a zoo, Sharon Cote says she was out with her dogs in her back yard Easter morning when what looked like a cougar wandered within 30 feet of them.
According to the Daily Herald, she phoned Wood Dale police who came out to investigate but found no evidence of a cougar. As a precaution however, police issued a community alert with information about the possible sighting.
There was also a large cat reportedly spotted by someone near the Morton Arboretum Lisle. However, a motion sensitive camera put in the area hasn't picked up any cougar passings.
April 14 marks the one year anniversary if the Chicago police action to put down a cougar found roaming the streets on the city North Side.
