CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Illinois Congressman Danny Davis says make no bones about it, he is running for Cook County Board President.
Representative Danny Davis appeared at the Bud Biliken parade wearing a Davis for Cook County Board President t-shirt despite recent speculation that he may want to hold onto his existing seat.
"Well this looks like Cook County Board President to me. This is Cook County Board President territory," Davis said.
Davis joins 4th Ward Alderman Toni Preckwinkle and Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown in trying to unseat Todd Stroger. Davis, who serves on the Ways and Means committee says he considers Stroger a friend, not an opponent.
"I don't think that offices belong to individuals, I think they belong to people. And it's the people's office and when a term expires, people run and so I have no...running against Todd Stroger's not even on my mind."
