Peotone Puppy Mill Dogs Up For Adoption - Get More Info Here

CHICAGO (STNG)  -- Now that a judge has cleared the way for the adoption of 49 dogs seized from a Peotone puppy mill in March, a south suburban animal shelter will begin finding new homes for the dogs.

For more information, visit www.pawstinleypark.org or call (815) 464-7298.

Would-be puppy rescuers can come to the PAWS shelter at 8301 W. 191st St. in Tinley Park from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, when the first four or five of the Peotone pups will be available.

Shelter workers began spaying and neutering the dogs this week. The process will take time, so only a few dogs will be ready for new homes by Saturday.

Before a lawsuit from the dogs' owner temporarily blocked adoptions last month, more than 1,000 people applied to adopt them. The dogs will be adopted on a first-come, first-served basis, but shelter workers remind prospective owners that PAWS has plenty of other cats and dogs to choose from.

Adoptive dog owners pay a $115 fee, which includes spaying or neutering, implanting a microchip and a check-up.

For more information, visit www.pawstinleypark.org or call (815) 464-7298.
