Police to Announce Charges In Halloween Murder of Pregnant Mom

CHICAGO (STNG)  -- Chicago Police are expected to announce charges Thursday afternoon against a gang member who allegedly shot and killed an expectant mother who was trick-or-treating with her children last Halloween in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Leticia Barrera, who was four months pregnant, had just made it home and was trying to open the wrought-iron gate of her front yard in the 4800 block of South Seeley when she was fatally shot in the head. It was her 32nd birthday.

The shooting was gang-related, and Barrera was caught in the crossfire, police said.

More information is expected to be released at a 4:30 p.m. press conference held by police.
