(WBBM) - Imagine pulling into a gas station and there, standing next to you, as you fill your tank is Sir Paul McCartney.
WBBM's Regine Schlesinger reports that's what happened to a group of friends in Springfield the other day.
C.J. Lowder and a group of friends were heading to St. Louis for the Cardinals' game last weekend when they pulled into a Circle K gas station in Springfield.
He says he glanced up and there, next to a 1989 Ford Bronco, was Paul McCartney.
He shouted out to the former Beatle, "Hey Paul, what's up?" And McCartney smiled and answered in a heavy British accent.
Lowder struck up a conversation with McCartney and his girlfriend, Nancy Shevell.
The two reportedly are on a month-long U.S. vacation, driving the old Route 66.
Lowder got up the nerve to ask whether they could take a picture. As one of the group of friends prepared to take it, Shevell stopped them, told him to get in the photo and said she'd take it.
McCartney was also spotted in the Joliet area over the weekend.

Poor Cubbies
Well, now that they've met Paul, there's probably no chance for a World Series victory for the Cubs. Lightning can't strike twice in the same season.
