Burning man beaten to death: autopsy
|
CHICAGO (STNG) -- A man found burning inside a Southwest Side home Friday night died of blunt head trauma suffered from an assault before the fire, authorities said.
A Saturday autopsy determined William Hallin, 67, of the 6100 block of S. Kenneth Ave., died of blunt head trauma from an assault and the death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Emergency personnel responded about 6 p.m. Friday to a home in the 5000 block of S. Talman Ave. and found an “obviously deceased” man on fire, according to Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but it was too late to treat the man, who was dead on the scene, Langford said.
The rest of the home was not damaged by the fire, Langford said.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody Saturday afternoon.
