Man killed by exploding tire

HARVEY (STNG) -- A Summit man was killed early Friday while changing a truck’s tire at a Canadian National Railroad facility in south suburban Harvey.
Fadmir Dardouski, 32, of 7312 W. 57th St., was changing a tire when it exploded, causing him to suffer head injuries, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
The incident happened before noon at the Canadian National Gateway Intermodal Terminal at 15840 West Avenue in Harvey, according to Canadian National spokesman Patrick Waldron.
The man, not a CN employee, was working to repair a truck tire in the facility when he was “fatally injured,” Waldron said. No trains were involved in the incident.
The man was working for a private contractor in the CN facility and was discovered by CN crews who called 911 when they saw what had happened about 11:55 a.m. Dardouski was pronounced dead on the scene.
The tire apparently exploded, according to an autopsy performed Saturday, causing Dardouski to suffer cranio-cerebral injuries, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled an accident.
