Man busted after selling cocaine to cop

ELGIN, Ill. (WBBM) -- Bond was set this morning at $25,000 for a 25-year-old Elgin man who was arrested for attempting to sell cocaine to an undercover cop.
Julio G. Zarate could face betwen six and 30 years in prison after being charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Zarate was pulled over at the intersection of State Street and Standish Court en route to making the sale.
According to police, Zarate had approximately 9 grams of cocaine in his possession, half of which was with him during his arrest. The remaining half was found by police at his apartment.
Court documents state that Zarate admitted his intent to sell the cocaine. His court date is set for July 14.
