Man found in Lincoln Park Died of Cold Exposure

CHICAGO (STNG)  -- A 74-year-old man who was pronounced dead after being found in Lincoln Park Monday is at least the 12th person to die of cold exposure in Cook County since fall.

Yurily Kuperman, of 600 W. Diversey Pkwy., was found at 2235 N. Canon Dr. Monday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at Lincoln Park Hospital at 5:01 p.m. Monday.

An autopsy Tuesday found Kuperman died of heart disease and cold exposure and his death has been ruled accidental.

The other cold deaths of the season are: 

-- Reynold Tomaselli, 63, of 5158 N. Elston Ave., pronounced dead at home at 5:40 p.m. on Jan. 30. Tomaselli died of cirrhosis of the liver, chronic alcoholism and cold exposure.

-- Rose Ella Ehrlich, of 402 S. Orchard Dr. in Park Forest,  found at home and pronounced on the scene at 10:32 a.m. Jan. 23 . Ehrlich died from hypothermia due to cold exposure, and multiple injuries from a fall.

-- Grady Hill, 94, of 952 Drake Ave., who died on Wednesday, Jan. 23. Hill died of coronary atherosclerosis and hypothermia due to cold exposure.

-- Mary Leander, 93, of 6006 N. Monitor Ave. was pronounced dead at the Stein Institute at 9:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22. Leander died of heart disease and hypothermia due to cold exposure.

-- Harold Butler, 78, of an unknown address, on Jan. 10.

-- Warner Rohr, 79, of 5141 W. Deming Pl., on Jan. 2.

-- James Peoples, 69, of 4517 W. Washington Blvd., on Dec. 26.

-- Thomas Campbell, 71, of 729 S. Kedvale Ave. on Dec. 22.

-- George Rockwood, 44, of 29 Helen in Justice on Dec. 19.

-- John Gallagher, 54, of  Ridgeland Avenue in Berwyn on Dec. 4.

-- Louise Wilson, 90, of 1755 E. Camp McDonald Rd in Mount Prospect. She was pronounced dead at the Stein Institute on Oct. 29, 2007, at 8:20 p.m. Wilson died from subdural hematoma, with secondary cause of death cold exposure.
