Lake Bluff woman recovering after crash with semi

METTAWA, Ill. (STNG)  -- A Lake Bluff woman was in stable condition Tuesday following a collision with a semi truck in north suburban Mettawa.

The accident occurred at 2:25 p.m. Thursday at Illinois Route 60 and St. Mary's Road when Kathleen Moeller, 67, failed to yield while turning in front of the truck from eastbound Route 60 onto northbound St. Mary's Road, according to the Lake County Sheriff's office.

She was struck by the westbound semi, which then careened off the roadway and went 30 feet into the adjacent forest preserve. The accident remains under investigation.

Moeller was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious head injuries.

The truck driver was not injured.
