August 1, 2008 -- Bears Training Camp -- 'Family Night'

FANS SWARM 'FAMILY NIGHT' WORKOUT.

Nearly 25,000 fans paid their way into Soldier Field for the annual “Family Night” Bears practice.  It was a lively crowd who showered stars like Brian Urlacher and Devin Hester with loud ovations during team introductions.

ORTON-GROSSMAN
It was a good practice for Kyle Orton who made sharp connections with Rashied Davis, Desmond Clark, and Devin Hester.  Orton ran the two-minute offense very well to end the practice.
Grossman was booed at times for some misfires running the second unit. However, in throwing away a pair of red zone passes, no receivers appe ared to be open. He hit Mike Hass over the middle for six, but it was Orton who had maybe his finest practice of camp.

METCALF OUT
No. 1 left guard Terrence Metcalf did not practice because of a bruised knee. Josh Beekman inherited Metcalf’s first-team snaps.

WILLIAMS WATCHES

We’ve seen practically nothing from injured left tackle Chris Williams. The rookie No. 1 has been out with a back problem since early in the second practice of camp. He’s now missed 10 days.

OTHER INJURIES

Linebacker Michael Okwo, fullback Jason McKie, linebacker Jamar Williams, running back Garrett Wolfe all are sidelined.
