Police are looking for three bicyclists who allegedly stabbed a man during an altercation on the Northwest Side Saturday night.
Just after 9 p.m., a man driving in the 7200 block of West Belmont Avenue began arguing with three men on bicycles. The man left his vehicle and a fight ensued, police News Affairs Officer JoAnn Taylor said.
The man realized he was stabbed as the bicyclists were fleeing. The man was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in "good" condition, Taylor said.
No one is in custody.
•TWO TEENAGES BOYS were shot early Sunday in the West Side’s Austin neighborhood.
They were outside of 2022 N Leclaire Ave. about 12:15 a.m. when an unknown gunman fired shots, police said. Their condition and identities have te top be released.
No one is in custody. Grand Central Area detectives are handling the investigation.
•LAWMEN RESPONDED to a stabbing Saturday night in the Northwest Side’s Avondale neighborhood.
The stabbing was reported about 8:30 p.m. at 3637 W. Belmont Ave., according to Grand Central District police.
A person was stabbed and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in “stable” condition with wounds to the throat and face.
No one is in custody. Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
•THE 21-YEAR-OLD MAN FOUND DEAD early Friday in a Northwest Side gangway died from an assault and cold exposure, according to a Friday autopsy.
Andreas Garcia is the third Chicagoan to die at least in part because of cold exposure this season.
Garcia was pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center at 1:30 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner announced.
An autopsy Friday found Garcia died of multiple injuries from an assault, as well as cold exposure. His death is ruled a homicide.
Police responded to the 2800 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, according to police News Affairs Officer JoAnn Taylor.
When police arrived, Garcia was found on the ground.
"He had apparently been beaten about on the head and body," Taylor said.
Police did not have a motive or a suspect. Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
•A BOLINGBROOK MAN has been charged for stabbing a teen during a fight Wednesday evening in Naperville, police said.
Cortez Branch, 21, of Bothwell Lane in Bolingbrook, has been charged with aggravated battery and armed violence, according to Naperville police.
About 5:40 p.m., Naperville police responded to a disturbance call near Keats Avenue and Falkner Drive and found Michael J. Fairbanks, 18, of Naperville, with a stab wound, police said. The nursing supervisor on duty at Edward Hospital in Naperville said Fairbanks is in critical condition
The weapon used in the attack has not been recovered.
Cortez is in the Will County Jail, pending a bond hearing
•A YOUNG WOMAN IS DEAD after a fight inside a west suburban nightclub spilled outside, where three people were stabbed and two -- including the woman -- were struck by a hit-and-run vehicle early Thursday in Stone Park.
Shortly after midnight, emergency personnel responded to the Nitro Nightclub Inc., 3815 W. Lake St., for a report of a fight, according to Stone Park Fire Department Lt. Chris Soda.
“We encountered multiple incidents,” according to Soda, who said a fight was inside the club moved outside, where three people were stabbed and two people were struck by a hit-and-run vehicle.
“Every couple of minutes it was something else,” Soda said.
Eighteen-year-old Galissa Brown, of far southwestern Sheridan, Ill., was a pedestrian struck by an automobile at North Mannheim Road and West Lake Street and was pronounced dead at 2:05 a.m. at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Three males and two females were initially taken to Loyola all in critical condition, according to Soda, who did not know their ages.
No one in the “large crowd’’ said they saw the vehicle and a description of it was not available, he said.
Seven towns assisted Stone Park and seven ambulances were sent to the scene.
An autopsy is scheduled. Stone Park police will not comment.
•A DRIVE-BY SHOOTING left a victim hospitalized Thursday evening following a drive-by shooting in the Southwest Side's Little Village neighborhood.
About 6:30 p.m., a man in his 30s was shot in the 2400 block of South Washtenaw Avenue, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
The man is in Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition.
The shots were fired from a moving vehicle, but details on the vehicle or possible motive for the shooting were not available.
Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
•A SUSPECT IS IN CUSTODY for shooting a man inside a car Thursday afternoon in the South Side’s Park Manor neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. near 76th Street and Champlain Avenue, according to Gresham District police.
A 31-year-old man was shot in the leg inside a car by someone he knew, police said.
An offender was taken into custody following the shooting but had not been charged as of 2 p.m., police said.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
•ROAD RAGE led to a Northbrook driver with a serious head injury on the Near West Side.
The accident happened at 652 W. Roosevelt Rd. when a minivan and an SUV that were both northbound on South Ruble Street sideswiped as one was trying to make a right turn onto Roosevelt Road, according to Central District police.
After the collision, the drivers got out of the vehicles and “there was some pushing and shoving,’’ police said.
The 34-year-old South Side man driving a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe allegedly pushed the other driver to the ground leaving him with a “serious injury to the head’’ police said.
The 27-year-old Northbrook man who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Astrovan was taken by Chicago Fire Department ambulance 41 to University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago.
The other driver is being interviewed by police; aggravated battery charges are pending.
•A BROOKLYN, N.Y., MAN WAS STABBED FATALLY during an argument in a South Side hair salon late Wednesday.
Charles Price, 29, was stabbed in the 1900 block of East 87th St. and pronounced dead at 12:05 a.m. Thursday at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
The stabbing happened about 11:10 p.m. at a hair salon, police said.
Authorities said Price, of 69 Herkimer St. in Brooklyn, N.Y., was stabbed during an argument. A possible suspect was in custody early Thursday, police said.
Thew autopsy found Price died of multiple stab and incised wounds. His death is ruled a homicide, the medical examiner said.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
•TWO MALES WERE SHOT in a fast food restaurant drive-through early Thursday on the Northwest Side.
About 12:30 a.m., an employee at the Burger King restaurant at 4514 W. Diversey Ave. called police and said someone was shot in the drive-through, police said.
When police got to the restaurant, the victims were not there but were later found in the 2900 block of North Kolmar Avenue. One victim was shot in the shoulder and the other was shot in the arm, police said.
One person was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in an unidentified condition. It was not known immediately where the other victim was taken, police said.
A woman who answered the telephone at the Burger King confirmed there was a shooting in the drive-through.
Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
•ALLEGATIONS OF ABUSE have led to an investigation in the Tuesday death of an 11-month-old West Side girl.
Police responded about 10 a.m. Tuesday to the 2300 block of West Van Buren Street for a call about an unresponsive child, police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti said.
Cathy Lucas, of West Van Buren St., was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner. Results from a Wednesday autopsy were withheld, pending a police investigation, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Illinois Department of Children and Family Services spokesman Kendall Marlowe said the department has had no prior contact with the girl’s family, but is investigating “allegations of death by abuse.”
Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
•A MAN WAS SHOT during an armed robbery Wednesday night on the West Side.
About 6:30 p.m., a man in his 20s was held up at 4102 W. Maypole Ave. The attacker stole a Pelle jacket, the man’s earring, cell phone and wallet before shooting him in the thigh, according to a Harrison District police lieutenant.
The victim is in Mount Sinai Hospital in "good" condition, the lieutenant said.
Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
