Feb. 22nd -- Looking For A Guard

Guards typically do not get selected in the top twenty of the NFL draft, but are securing huge contracts as free agents.  It’s frankly cheaper to draft one. University of Virginia left guard Branden Albert is a guy who can step in and start day one in the NFL.

An outstanding athlete at 6-5 ½ and 309 pounds, Albert is arguably the top interior lineman available in April. He also has been projected as a left tackle, after playing two games at the position as a senior. He lined up next to current Jets left tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson as a young player at
Virginia. Albert is an impressive prospect.  The Bears will be looking closely at tackles and guards.
