Facebook booze pic earns student an alcohol monitor
(WBBM) - A picture posted on the social networking site Facebook has cost a suburban college student some of her freedom.
Police checking online on Facebook found a site with a picture of 20-year-old Erika Scoliere of Campton Township on it.
According to the Kane County Chronicle, authorities say the photo showed her drinking with friends.
Scholiere is currently out on bond, attending college in Ohio, after pleading not guilty to drunk driving charges involving a 2007 crash that killed a 40-year-old motorcyclist. She has know been ordered to wear a alcohol detecting bracelet.
Her attorney told the judge the device is like a "scarlet letter" for someone who is merely "accused" of a crime.
The paper reports Scoliere left the courthouse in tears, while friends of the victim were left shaking their heads.
