CICERO. Ill. (STNG) -- The FBI is asking for the public's help in finding a former west suburban man wanted for the 1996 fatal shooting of a Northwest Side restaurant owner.
Pedro Aguilar, 44, whose last known address was 3000 S. Laramie in Cicero, is wanted for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, a felony, according to a release from the FBI.
Aguilar is believed to have fled the state in November 1996, shortly after being charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Marie Rodriguez, who owned and operated the Rodriguez Restaurant at 3144 N. Narragansett Ave.
According to the federal criminal complaint, Aguilar fired a handgun multiple times inside the restaurant during an apparent dispute. One of the rounds fatally wounded Rodriguez, who died at the scene.
Aguilar, who is of Mexican descent, is known to use the alias of Juan Jose Martinez. He is 5-foot-3 and 180 pounds with a stocky build, black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone who may have any information as to his whereabouts should call the FBI at (312) 421-6700 or any law enforcement agency.
