Daley: Everyone Is Glad Boycott Is Over

CHICAGO (WBBM)  -- Mayor Richard M. Daley say everyone is happy the school boycott is over and indicated the focus still remains on new solutions to the school funding issue.

Daley told reporters he doesn't see how an elected official - without naming Governor Rod Blagojevich -- can run a government without finding new funding sources to meet new demands.

He made it clear he knows the governor said he would never, never, ever raise taxes..but said he thinks Blagojevich should be able to accept a tax swap, income tax up, real estate taxes down, in order to keep his pledge and also level out educational inequalities between inner city and suburban schools.

Daley said he did NOT see Sarah Palin's speech but said she's to be applauded for getting into the political ring and must not be under estimated.

Daley also said Barak Obama reminds him of FDR and has more than enough experience with hard work as evidenced by the work he's already put in...in visiting so many sites across the United States during his campaign.
