Fan Launches Ditka For Governor Draft

COMMENT ON THIS STORY

CHICAGO (WBBM)
- Da Coach for Da Governor?

A suburban man has launched a bid to draft Mike Ditka for Illinois' highest office.

27-year-old Shaun Radecki of Burr Ridge says he felt embarrassed by Ill. Gov. Rod Blagojevich's recent arrest on corruption charges.

So, after a conversation about the scandal with a friend at a Bears game, he launched an Internet campaign to recruit former Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka for governor of Illinois.

Radecki tells the Chicago Tribune he launched www.dagovernor.com to persuade Iron Mike to lead Illinois.

The site sells t-shirts, mugs and various other items urging the coach to run.

There's no word from the coach about the governor's office. Ditka campaigned for Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin in the recent presidential election.

WHY NOT?
Heck, Ditka wouldn't try to turn the Land of Lincoln into his personal cash cow.

NO to the DACOACH
Just look at California and what DA GOVERNATOR is doing to that state. Stay retired!

thoughts
Just because da coach ain't a corrupt politition don't mean he's not shady. Da coach would be swindlin' all sorts of under the table deals. Let's leave da coach doing what he does best. Coaching, smokin' cigars, eatin' pork chops at his restaurant, etc...
12/23/2008 10:05AM
HELL YES
I think da coach is the perfect canidate. He took a losing team and lead them to a victory in the biggest game in football. I think he can take a "losing" state to better "state".

NO to Ditka
He lacks the temperment and the talent to lead 12 million people
12/23/2008 11:03AM
Mouse Man
Are you kiddin'? I think he has the perfect temprement, Our legislature needs a grab-em-by-the-short-hairs, and kick their a#$ leader right now. As far as the talent goes tho, I don't think he could do worse than what we've got. Take a look at Jesse Ventura in MN...

question to Mr. Voter
Mr Voter- do you like ANYONE? Just curious.

SDMF BLS
Da Coach would be a great fit! He has calmed down since his past health issues and would do a great job. Why not Da Coach? No experience in gov is nothing new in politics. He is a leader and can bring it! Da Coach should be da man and the next Gov!
12/23/2008 1:55PM
no Ditka
I think we ought to elect the New Christy Minstrals as gov. They're awesome!
12/23/2008 2:28PM
DA COACH AND EVERYBODY ELSE FERGETTABOUTIT
Ditka would make things happen. People would listen. Or else.
12/23/2008 3:11PM
fedup dem
Just what we need... a reactionary quitter who turned his back on the fans of the Chicago Rush by supporting the move to close down the Arena Football League, even though he had perhaps the strongest franchise in that league. We need another clown act in government like we need another hole in our heads!
12/23/2008 3:26PM
dummycrap
How could Mike be any worse than what you have now? I live outside IL and your state government is a joke to most of us. Should be an embarassment to y'all.
12/24/2008 12:49AM
Agree w/Dummycrap, but...
We certainly need someone BETTER than what we have now! Ditka would probably be more ethical (I hope) but do we need such a hothead to make things worse? What would that accomplish? Let him have his restaurants...and let him get the due recognition for his career placed onto the Soldier Field wall showing Bears history (get a heart McCaskeys!), and leave it at that. And save the useless yelling and screaming for the commontators, not the leaders. Also I understand he is very conservative and that won't fly in IL. Bring back Jim Edgar.

DAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Everytime I hear "Da coach" I want to puke... have you heard his commercial on the radio.. "come to my restaurant and you might be able to see me... or even hang with me" what a conceeded pri*k
12/24/2008 5:47AM
Mr Voter
Mike dickhead is nothing but a money grabber, I'd sooner vote for blago then see this moron as gov. all he does is run his mouth and act like a bully, but really he is a punk with a two bit pork chop house.....anyone but this jerk...
12/24/2008 3:22PM
Change
Maybe we ought to elect someone who isnt a career politician, who isn't spending his/her whole life making their livelihood off the sweat of our backs, but rather someone who has a thriving business, has made a life and living based on his/her merit andleadership, and isnt using the elected office to further his/her own financial position. I notice Ditka isnt clammoring for the job. Sounds like he would be perfect.
12/29/2008 11:25AM
Commercial Interest Only
This guy is not for real about getting Ditka elected, all he wants is to sell bumpers stickers, t-shirts and other junk at ridiculous prices and outrageous shipping.
01/01/2009 1:22PM
Mike, stay with arena football
I have read all these comments and suggestions. You guys don't have 1 brain between you. Mike has football in his blood, not politics. Anybody who would want to run for gov of this state should have his or her head examined. We are ridiculed by our niehbors and have a definiant Polish American at the helm (so far). We need new blood that isn't tainted and won't cave in to corruption.

Would you support Mike Ditka for Illinois governor?
