Cutler On 49ers Loss: 'We Have To Stay Positive'
CHICAGO (CBS) ― Jay Cutler has thrown a league-leading 17 interceptions, and after he threw five against the 49ers, Coach Lovie Smith even said that type of performance could shake the quarterback's confidence. But, as CBS 2's Megan Mawicke reports, Cutler says his psyche is just fine.
"We have to stay positive when things are going bad like that. You have to keep the guys believing in the huddle, which I think they do. They know I'm going to bounce back. They know no matter what happens, I'm going to keep fighting out there," said Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler.
"He's professional. He's tough. He has a lot of confidence in himself and the team. No matter what nothing is going to keep him down," said Bears Tight End Greg Olsen.
So if Cutler was the coach, would he have benched himself against the 49ers?
"No, I'm not going to bench myself," said Cutler.
But maybe they should bench the notion that they get off the bus running? Is it time for them to start using the pass to set up the run instead of the other way around?
"That's a good question. We try to run the ball. We've been in some situations where we've been forced to pass. You have to figure what your team is built on and stick with it," said Cutler.
"I'm just frustrated about losing. I don't care about running or passing. I don't care what we do. I just want to win," said Bears Center Olin Kreutz.
So it will be interesting to see what the Bears do against the Eagles. Unfortunately, the game is at night and Cutler has been anything but prime time in front of a national audience. The good news though, the Eagles are an astounding 0 and 7 in Sunday night games.
