WAUKEGAN, Ill. (STNG) -- A far northwest suburban school bus driver was arrested Wednesday for allegedly showing sexually oriented video clips to young students who rode her bus.
April L. Jackson, 33, of the 21900 block of W. 7th St. in Lake Villa was charged Thursday with one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct following a series of incidents over the last week and a half, according to the Lake County Sheriff's office.
Police received reports that Jackson, who drives a bus for Lake Villa School District 41, had been showing sexually oriented animated video clips on her cell phone to children on her route, according to a release from the sheriff's office.
The incidents would take place when Jackson's bus arrived at Olive Martin School at 24750 W. Deering Ln. in Lake Villa, the release said. While children, who ranged in age from 7 to 11, were in line waiting to exit the bus, Jackson would allegedly show the videos.
She was arrested Wednesday at Durham Bus Services in Lake Villa, her place of employment, and charged Thursday following interviews with witnesses, the release said.
If convicted of the Class C misdemeanor, Jackson could face up to 30 days in the Lake County Jail and up to $1,500 in fines.
