CHICAGO (WBBM) -- The City Department of Streets & Sanitation announced Thursday that beginning in April, it will take a new approach to temporary no parking signs for street sweeping.
Starting April 1, 2008, the familiar orange, temporary, no parking signs cautioning motorists not to park on certain streets during street cleaning will be replaced with colored signs, according to a release from Streets & San.
The new signs will look similar to the old ones but will be color-coded to represent the day of the week when sweeping will take place, the release said.
Monday street cleaning will be represented by blue signs, Tuesday by red, Wednesday by yellow and Thursday by green, with the familiar orange signs for Friday.
The department hopes the new approach will make the signs easier to see and cut down on confusion over cleaning days on residential streets, the release said.
Pictures of the signs will be posted by Friday at cityofchicago.org/streetsandsan.
