City Not Liable In E2 Club Disaster

CHICAGO (WBBM)  -- The state appellate court ruled today that the city of Chicago cannot be held liable in the E2 nightclub stampede that killed 21 people in 2003.

In the key ruling the court said that the city's mistakes were not "willful and wanton."  The families of the victims plan to appeal to the State Supreme Court.

A total of 21 people were killed as they tried to exit the second floor of the club after a fight broke out and pepper spray was released.
