Christopher Kelly's last words: "Tell them they won"

CHICAGO (WBBM/AP) -- There’s a new report out on the final days and hours of the life of one of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s closest aides.
Blagojevich fundraiser Christopher Kelly killed himself in September, days after a court hearing on federal corruption charges.
The Country Club Hills police department has released to the Tribune a 47-page death investigation report.
The report shows that Kelly's girlfriend says he told her "It's my life. Tell them they won, tell them they won."
The report doesn't name the person Kelly was referring to. Clarissa Flores-Behelos told Country Club Hills police Kelly made the comment as medical personnel tried to strap him down before transferring him to Stroger Hospital.
Days before his apparent suicide, Kelly told reporters after a federal court hearing that his life was over. He was being urged to testify against the former governor.
Kelly was a fundraiser and chief gambling adviser to former Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
After his apparent suicide, federal prosecutors to drop charges against Kelly in a racketeering case against Blagojevich.
Kelly, 51, was a co-defendant in the sweeping corruption case against Blagojevich but was also facing eight years in federal prison on other charges when he died of an apparent overdose Sept. 12. Police said it was a suicide.
Kelly, a south suburban roofing contractor, raised millions of dollars for the Friends of Rod Blagojevich campaign fund.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office says Kelly overdosed on over-the-counter medication. There had been some suggestion he’d taken rat poisoning too, but the M.E. did not find that in his system.
