Children's Museum wins one in Court

CHICAGO (WBBM) -- A loss in court Tuesday for a group of residents who opposes putting a new Chicago Children's Museum on the northeast corner of Grant Park.
The residents had claimed they weren't given proper notice, but a judge disagreed.
This latest court ruling is a win for the Chicago Children's Museum, which wants to build in Grant Park.
The Chicago City Council and the City Plan Commission are in favor of the museum, and City Law Department spokeswoman Jennifer Hoyle praised the judge's ruling.
"The Plan Commission's decision in this matter stands,” Hoyle said, “Of course, there are some things that aren't within the city's control. The plaintiffs could file an appeal, which could change the timeline of things, so that's still up in the air."
In fact, the lawyer for the residents of the area around the northeast part of Grant Park, James Fabbrini, has indicated he has plans to file lawsuits that challenge the museum on another front - relying on 100-year-old state supreme court decisions that declare the lakefront should remain free of private development.
