A Horse That Paints? Check Out His Works of Art Here
NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WBBM) -- There is a budding new artist in the western suburbs who lives in a stable in Wheaton.
The Danada Equestrian center is home to a 12-year-old Mustang named Smokey whose latest achievement is painting.
Volunteer Barb Gora-Bull says two people working with the horse over the winter decided to give Smokey a paint brush and paper and before they knew it the horse was creating interesting art pieces by pushing the brush against the paper and swishing it around.
Smokey has gotten so good at painting he does it in front of crowds and moves around the canvas with the paint brush in his mouth. …
Gora-Bull says Smokey has created about two dozens pieces and has generated some real interest among horse lovers.
Volunteers at the Danada Equestrian center plan to auction off some of his artwork to the public during a fundraiser Saturday May 3rd, the same day as the Kentucky Derby.
Money raised at the event will benefit special projects involving the horses not covered by the Dupage County Forest Preserve which operates the center.
