Federal Judge James Zagel has approved the hiring of three attorneys to represent the former governor at $110 an hour each, using money from the Friends of Blagojevich campaign fund.
The government wants the money untouched so it can be seized if Blagojevich is convicted on corruption charges including that he tried to sell Barack Obama's senate seat.
Sam Adam Jr., along with his father, represented Blagojvevich during his impeachment hearing.
Both men were in court Monday, telling reporters afterwards they've become friends with the former governor and want to assist him in any way.
The pair also helped R. Kelly win an acquittal in his child pornography trial.
Blagojevich defense attorney Sheldon Sorosky says he needs at least four attorneys to pour over two million documents and hundreds of hours of secret government recordings.
